A day of sadness
This shall forever be known as a day of sadness in the world of figure skating, and my life:
Michelle Kwan pulled out of the Olympics, citing the return of her groin injury. I am a wreck. She was my girl, my golden girl. And I knew she wouldn't get the gold, I knew it would be a stretch for her to even medal this time. But man, for the past 3 Olympics the underdog has gotten this medal, (two of those times beating Kwan) and this time she would have been the underdog. Man. Sarah Hughes's little sister Emily is flying in to be Kwan's replacement, and all I have to say is that if Emily pulls a Big-Sis and takes the gold, there will be hell to pay. We're talking personal vendeta against that family. And Irina Slutskaya better watch her back, too.
Come on, Sasha Cohen.
On an only mildly related note, the American pair landed the first throw triple axel last night. They won't medal, but it's still a nice thought.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love the Olympics?
